Hampton Inn & Suites Houghton

My husband and I stayed here three nights on vacation in September 2025. We had a top floor water view room and it was spectacular. The hotel was so clean, and newly remodeled. We were impressed by the pool and the laundry facilities (used both), and the top floor bar made excellent drinks and the bartender was skilled and professional. The only downside to our stay was that there were some staffing issues so the bar was not serving food while we are there. A very minor hiccup in a nearly perfect stay!

Room was extremely clean, bathroom was newly renovated. Beds were comfy. I liked the text message from the front desk asking how things were. I was able to ask questions that were very promptly answered (yes, I could drink beer on the balcony and they even had a decent canned margarita for sale). There was a minor problem with the room. I mentioned it and they took care of it immediately.

It was a very nice hotel. Located across the street from Portage Lake, we had a nice view of the lake and ski hill. They have a restaurant on the top floor that I didn't notice when I made the reservation. Plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel. The breakfast service had hot eggs, sausage, red-skinned potatoes, a waffle maker, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc.

Madi at the front desk started my great experience at this hotel. She was just great, friendly, gave us a complimentary upgrade! Our room was spacious, so clean( I’m an executive housekeeper, trust me, I looked for issues) and it was very quiet. I’ll be adding this to my list of favorites!

The service here is amazing . We were greeted by Sarah and Napoleon. They were so friendly and Accommodating. The observatory lounge is Beautiful and what a view. The rooms are very clean and nice but the best part about this Hampton are their employees, Sarah and Napoleon.

We stayed here on a Saturday night the front desk was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and Luke checked us in. We actually owned hotels and this is the nicest Hampton Inn. It is a relatively new hotel and they went the extra mile with the interior finishes. Everything is spotless and like new. We also ate at the observatory restaurant on the 7th floor that has beautiful views of the river and the ski hill. The bartender and waitress provided excellent service and more importantly the food was delicious.
